PepsiCo's Social Vending System is a state-of-the-art networked unit that features full touch screen interactive vending technology, enabling consumers to better connect with PepsiCo brands right at the point of purchase. A prototype of the Social Vending System will debut at the National Automatic Merchandising Association's One Show in Chicago, April 27-29.
The video follows rapper Killer Reese One through a typical: breakfast, kids, work and,well, killing people.
Beyond the video, there's an interactive experience that lets you become one of the characters in the movie (suggest you watch the video first for full effect). I'd love to know the stats on the site - viewers, engagement, etc. It's a bit of work for a fairly small/short payoff that you can't share. It's got half the elements to "go viral" -- provocative participation. The other half would be easy sharing.
Anyways. Here's the gist:
This is pretty cool. It's based on a method known as Frame Differencing. As a video feed is being displayed the previous frame is also stored. The application compares the current frame to the previous frame to perceive motion. That motion is then plotted to the screen in the form of polygons and gradient spheres.
